Now I see the toxicity. I see that it rewards only those with a ‘willing to work myself to death’ warrior mentality which has killed diversity, burnt many talented chefs out and discouraged even more from ever picking up the trade. If we want to see an end to the skills shortage, it is us, the current leaders that need to change and collectively improve the culture of our profession.
